Influence and Cyber Roundtable

Roundtable: Influence & Cyber

In the roundtable, experts from key stakeholders will explore the challenges and potential solutions surrounding the issue of false information in today’s digital landscape by encouraging the implementation of a “whole of government” approach. The discussion will explore the critical role of regulatory frameworks and legal measures in mitigating the spread of disinformation and misinformation, particularly given the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technologies and amid the “Iron Swords” War. Participants will debate the efficacy of existing governmental laws in Israel and in other democracies facing the same challenge and the necessity for updated, effective, and balanced regulations. There is a need to address the unique threats posed by AI-driven content generation and dissemination while taking into account the inherent dilemma between the safeguarding of national and personal security versus the protection of free speech and civil rights. In addition, the roundtable will revolve around recommended strategies for selecting suitable technological solutions to detect better and thwart foreign disinformation campaigns, including fostering the development of innovative tools. Another crucial part of the needed comprehensive governmental response that the experts will discuss in the roundtable is raising the general public’s awareness and resilience to individually and socially confronting threats in the digital domain via promoting literacy and education programs and other means.
