Amit Ashkenazi is a law and technology expert, specializing in Cybersecurity, Data Protection and AI. He advises public and private organizations on compliance with data protection, cybersecurity and developing AI frameworks. Amit teaches law and technology courses in Israel’s leading universities. During 2022-2023 Amit was a consultant to the Israeli Ministry of Science and Trade and one of the drafters of Israel’s recent draft policy on AI regulation. He is also member of ISO SC-42 WG1, developing an ISO standard for AI Impact Assessment.
Between 2014 and 2022 Amit was the Head of the Legal Department of the Israel National Cyber Directorate in the Prime Ministers’ office, and before that Head of the Legal Department of Israel’s Data Protection Authority. Amit has been active in law and technology issues since 2002, including Copyright law, Data Protection and Privacy, Electronic signatures, E-government, and has represented the Israeli government in the Israeli Knesset, and in international fora.
