Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann was born in 1951 in St. Louis/Missouri. She studied literature (B.A.) at the Regis University in Denver/Colorado from 1969 to 1973 and then drama at The Drama Studio Royal Academy in London from 1973 to 1974. Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann subsequently worked as an actress in Hollywood and operated her own interior design business. In 1980, she met and married the entrepreneur, Peter Dussmann in the USA, then moved back to Germany with him. When Peter Dussmann suffered a massive stroke in the autumn of 2008, she became member the Supervisory Board of Dussmann Verwaltungs AG and in April 2009 took on the role of Chairperson. Since January 2011, she has headed the company as Chairwoman of the Board. She is co-owner with her daughter.
