Dr. Mark Yampolskiy earned his Ph.D. in computer science from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2009. He is currently an Associate Professor at Auburn University, department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE). He is also an Affiliated Faculty with Auburn Cyber Research Center (ACRC) and National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence (NCAME).
Dr. Yampolskiy was among the pioneers and is one of the leading experts in the field of Additive Manufacturing (AM) Security. His research interests include the cyber-physical means of attack and defense in AM. For example, how side-channels can be used in AM to bypass end-to-end encryption of digital designs, or how the same side-channel data can be leveraged to detect and investigate sabotage attacks that degrade part’s quality. Dr. Yampolskiy chairs and organizes various conferences and journal special issues in the field. With ASTM International, he is leading a working group to provide guidelines and standards for AM Security.
