Nate has spent the last 25 years driving innovation at the nexus of technology and security. He has held technical and executive positions in government, non-profits, and the private sector. As the Children’s National Hospital VP & Chief Information Security Officer, Nate is responsible for leading the team that ensures the security of hospital systems and protects the information of patients, families, and staff.

Nate previously served as the Deputy Director of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where he ran the national lab dedicated to addressing intractable cybersecurity challenges, including medical device security.  Nate holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Columbia University, is on the board of the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security, the Health Sector Coordinating Council Cyber Working Group and is a frequent public speaker on various topics in cybersecurity.
